1. Introduction

In its 9thedition, the International Conference on Tourism and Hospitality between China and Spain (ICTCHS 2019) will be held at Barcelona, Spain, fromSeptember 30thto October 2nd. All original paper contributions in English that may help in the mutual understanding of Asian-Western tourism, Chinese tourism, Spain tourism and current important world tourism issues are welcome to submit to the conference. 

The industrial part of the conference is for the tourism and hospitality professionals. Are under call all the papers that can promote the cooperation between China and Spain.

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital Catalonia region (Spain), is best known for its art and architecture. The marvelous Sagrada Família church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudí garnish the city. The Museum of Picasso, las Ramblas street, the Barcelona Football Club stadium, Camp Nou, and the sea promenade are a few of its admired attractions.Social events of the conference include walking tours around Barcelona old town, gothic quarter, sea promenade, las Ramblas…

The conference will be held at the Autonomous University of Barcelona – School of Tourism and Hotel Management (EUTDH), located at Barcelona (1 hour from Barcelona City Airport and 40 minutes from Barcelona city centre Plaça Catalunya). Participants will have special rates at Hotel EXE Campus, located in the same building as the School EUTDH.

  • Notification of acceptance of abstracts — May 20th
  • Second Call for Papers. Submit before — May 20th
  • Notification of acceptance of abstracts — June 3rd

  • You are welcome to submit abstracts according to the conference themes. Please, use the abstract submission deadlines.
  • Note that the subject should not be directly linked to your own company commercial activities.
  • If you want to give a talk related directly to your own company, you should become a sponsor. Here is the information about how to be a sponsor.

3. Submission

Call for papers

All the papers that address the following topics are under call:

  • Asian-Western tourism relationships (e.g. barriers to travel, development, workforce, new technologies, economy, etc.)
  • Chinese tourism (e.g. destination development, outbound tourism, religious tourism, tourist behavior, governance, etc.).
  • Tourism in Spain (e.g. overtourism, destination, education, tourism impacts, tourist experience, events tourism, etc.) 
  • Important world tourism issues (e.g. sustainability, safety, global economy, tourism impacts, tourism and indigenous populations, etc.)

4. Registration

Full conference registration – Includes:

  • Attendance and participation at all conference sessions and presentations, including plenary addresses and parallel sessions. Attendance & participation certificate.
  • Conference lunch and coffee breaks on the days of the conference. 
  • Social events, including Barcelona guided tours and gala dinner.
  • Summary of work and abstracts in printed and digital conference documents.

Note 1:Everyone, students included, are able to register for a full conference registration if preferred.
